At age 24, Kadeen Mairs took a bold decision to leave his job as a loans officer at a commercial bank and set up M24 Investments, offering loans to microbusinesses in Lucea, Hanover.

The Westmoreland native later sold his ownership stake in the business to an investment brokerage firm in 2014, with his loan portfolio later rolled into Dolla Financial Services.

Dolla Financial, today, has over 2,000 clients across eight branches in Jamaica and one in Guyana.

In this edition of Young People in Business, Mairs talks about the sacrifices he made to get his business off the ground and partnerships formed to grow the microfinance establishment.
